Allegheny Energy Wellness Program

A healthy workforce is a happier and more engaged workforce. And, with increasing health care costs and decreasing productivity levels associated with illness and accidents, many companies have realized the benefits of promoting health and wellness.

At Allegheny Energy, we invest in our employees’ health and well being through programs and resources both at work and at home. Allegheny Energized, our first-ever corporate-wide wellness program, was launched in October 2006. The program aims to create a culture of wellness that focuses on safety, disease prevention and living a healthy lifestyle. It consists of:

• Monthly health/safety awareness messages
• A health management program (through Caremark)
• An employee assistance program
• Immunizations
• Health screenings
• Health fairs

Many other initiatives are planned for 2007, such as a pedometer-based walking program and lunch and learn sessions.
